Between Animal and Angel

How to practice compassion when
you have a human brain!

“Your daily life is your temple and your religion.” Kahlil Gibran

Compassion: The Greatest Miracle

The human brain is half animal, half angel. The animal side, or survival, is strong. It is self-absorbed, fearful of change and strangers, wants security, can be greedy and even murderous.

Your angel side is Love in a state of flux. It is still evolving. You can aid this evolution through the practice of compassion, or Active Love. It is not easy. Your animal side will rebel. So, it takes a commitment. The practice is simple, but not easy. Here it is:

Do the least harm and the most good.

“Relationships are all there is. Everything in the universe only exists because it is in relationship to everything else. Nothing exists in isolation. We have to stop pretending we are individuals [who] can go it alone.”

Margaret J. Wheatley (Author and current president of Berkana Institute, a global charitable leadership foundation)
