Are You Insane? Let's See... (New Thought Sunday Message 4/17/11)

"We first make our habits; then our habits make us." John Dryden

Everybody knows by now that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Well, here are a few very simply ways for you to change your 'over and over' syndrome and come into a new relationship with yourself:
  1. Do nothing. Take some regular 'me' time.
  2. If you can afford it, pay people to do things you would normally do.
  3. Clear some of your clutter (not all) to make room for new clutter. It's fun, actually.
  4. What are the drains in your life? People? Certain activities? Jobs? Dump them, at least for a while. You may find you can dump them permanently.
  5. Express your gratitude when you're grateful--to other people, to pets, to your Creator, to whatever brings blessings (and that includes rough times!) into your life.
  6. Journal, even if just a sentence a day. It keeps you self-connected.
  7. Notice details in your dreams. You put them there to notice, so notice.
  8. Pay more attention to your intuition. Still, use a little common sense, too.
  9. Develop a higher purpose than you have right now. Live into it. Make it a game. What can you do just one smidge better, different?
  10. Do you wear a 'uniform'? Change it now and then. Cut your hair differently. Wear red more often. Dress for yourself once in a while instead of for others.
  11. Think in a larger way; open to more creativity. You have it; you just don't recognize it all the time. But you got to this point. That takes creativity, cleverness, even craftiness. Don't sell yourself short.
  12. Be as honest with yourself as you possible can. You can lose a lot of burdens just by telling the truth.
  13. Admit your mistakes and realize your potential. You are always a combination of both.
  14. Have some patience. Behavior and habit changes take a while.
  15. Other people won't change for you. When you're different, then they will respond differently, too.
  16. And, as famous drag queen RuPaul says, "If you can't love yourself, how in hell you gonna love somebody else?! Can I get an 'amen' in here?" Amen, Ru!
Now you have a way--several ways--to stop the insanity. Have fun, don't take it too seriously, laugh more and out loud. Smile for no reason. (Makes people wonder what you're up to...)

See you in Valhalla!
